Speedy Ortiz
Speedy Ortiz
Attention came swiftly following Speedy Ortiz’s 2012 Sports EP on the Boston-centric label Exploding In Sound, and with good reason. Massachusetts-based songwriter/guitarist Sadie Dupuis’ knotty, lyrically dense songs were fully realized by her bandmates, with intricate guitar lines crisscrossing over Darl Ferm’s fluid bass and Mike Falcone’s precisely executed drumming in a way that was simultaneously catchy and jarring. After the success of its 2013 Best New Music-honored debut full-length Major Arcana, the band formalized its assault through a year and a half of relentless touring with bands in whose brainy-slash-brawny legacies it followed—among them Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, Ex Hex, and The Breeders. In 2014, the band added guitarist Devin McKnight of the Boston-based post-punk group Grass Is Green, whose guitar parts both match and challenge Dupuis’.

Speedy Ortiz’s second proper album—Foil Deer, recorded at Rare Book Room in Brooklyn when the band wasn’t pushing forward on its hectic 2014 tour schedule—comes out on April 21, 2015. The songs represent a leap forward, possessing a lightness that mirrors Dupuis’s post-grad school outlook; they also have a deliberate nature to them, one that emanates from extra studio time and more experimentation with the band’s essential form. (Ferm contributes a few unexpected guitar parts; Falcone’s vocal harmonies zing in with more force.) Speedy Ortiz possesses big-tent rock swagger and punk’s restless yet intimate spirit in a way that makes the impulses seem identical; while the quartet can still command crowds at festivals like Primavera Sound and Pitchfork Music Festival, they also relish playing Boston’s teeming basements alongside the city’s next generation of bands. That willingness to push not just forward, but in all directions, makes Speedy Ortiz one of rock’s most exciting outfits.
Suzi Analogue
Suzi Analogue
Suzi Analogue is an American Soul / Electronic / Experimental artist best known for her ingenious vocal and production contributions to today's genre-bending urban music.

Analogue's aesthetic utilizes vocal notions of classic soul mashed against electronic charm, creating soundscapes that are conveyed through a global perspective. Born in Baltimore, MD and raised in central Virginia, Suzi’s geographical background kept her closely connected to the roots of soul, hip-hop, club music, and the emergence of southern hip-hop ; all of which serves as inspiration to her sound and style. Her fascination for self-recordings began at 10 when she began creating her own mixtapes on cassette with dubbed vocals. It was an obsession that seemed to stick. In 2010, Suzi released her breakout recordings NNXTAPE that became

To date Suzi has played live around the world, and created music with some of electronic hip-hop's most exciting names including TOKiMONSTA, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Blu, Stalley and more. TOKiMONSTA and Suzi teamed up to open for Bonobo's "Black Sands" North American fall tour and later dropped "BOOM" on Scion A/V.
Suzi's music can be found in both digital and analogue formats on cassette, vinyl, and online shops.

In 2013, Suzi founded NEVER NORMAL RECORDS, the imprint for her collection of music. Great things are next to come from Suzi.
Xenia Rubinos
Xenia Rubinos
Vocalist and composer Xenia Rubinos crafts movingly powerful songs dipping in and out of genre and structure to create a sound that is fearlessly her own. Xenia's powerhouse vocals are at the center of her music which grows from a wide range of influences from R&B to Hip-Hop to Caribbean rhythms and jazz all delivered with a soulful punk aura. Her debut album 'Magic Trix' was released in 2013 by Ba Da Bing! Records to wide critical acclaim. Pitchfork lauded the radiant singer as "a unique new pop personality" while a profile in The New Yorker described her work as "rhythmically fierce, vocally generous music that slips through the net of any known genre." Xenia's energetic live show and presence echoes some of the larger than life iconic singers she admired as a child including Judy Garland, Nina Simone and La Lupe while her powerhouse vocals recall the pop sensibility of Mariah Carey and soulfulness of Erykah Badu. Touring the US and Europe extensively, she has played more than 150 shows both as a headliner and supporting act for such diverse bands as Man Man, Battles, Coco Rosie, and Deerhoof. Xenia has been hard at work on her follow-up full-length LP, due out Spring 2016.
Sammus
Sammus
Sammus is the stage name adopted by Ithaca, NY producer, rapper, activist, and PhD student Enongo Lumumba-Kasongo. Known as much for her rousing stage presence as she is for her prowess as a beatmaker and lyricist, Sammus has spent the past several years cultivating a strong following of activists, hip hop heads, punks, and self-proclaimed nerds and geeks, among others. Now ready to make her Don Giovanni debut, she is poised to cement herself as an artist who consistently thinks outside boxes and dances across lines (and does other neat things with geometrical figures).
